Oil Seals
Oil Seals, also known as radial shaft seals, are vital components used in various mechanical systems to prevent the leakage of lubricants, oils, and other fluids while simultaneously protecting the machinery from contaminants like dirt and moisture. These seals play a crucial role in maintaining the efficiency and longevity of engines, gearboxes, pumps, and other rotating equipment.
The primary sealing elements are usually made from materials such as NBR or VITON, depending on the operating temperature, fluid compatibility, and speed requirements. A metal case, often made of steel, provides structural support and ensures proper installation and retention of the seal within the housing.
Oil seals also have a garter spring which ensures the sealing lip maintains constant contact with the shaft, regardless of changing conditions or normal wear and tear.
